These slouchy slipper-like socks are designed with the beginner in mind. They’re easily customizable and feature a rounded toe, no heel, and cuff-to-toe construction. These socks are perfect for wearing around the house on chilly days!
Materials
100-150 grams of any worsted/heavy worsted weight yarn
Size 8(5.0 mm) needles suitable for the method of your choice
Scissors and yarn needle
Ruler to check gauge
Stitch markers (optional)
Gauge
In order to ensure that the socks will fit their intended recipient, I suggest checking gauge.
16 stitches and 24 rounds = 4 inches in stockinette stitch worked in the round
Abbreviations
CO: cast on
k: knit
p: purl
ea: each
n1: needle 1 (or the first ½ of the sts)
n2: needle 2 (or the second ½ of the sts)
k2tog: knit two stitches together
st(s): stitch(es)
*...*: repeat the instructions in the asterisks
Sizing Notes
This ruler is so helpful for making socks fit any size foot.
This pattern is written for sizes small(medium, large) and are designed to fit a 7(8, 9) inch foot circumference. These are also designed to have at least one inch of positive ease, so the finished circumference for each size is 8(9, 10) inches around. Choose whichever size suits your negative/positive ease preferences.

I recommend using the magic loop technique for these socks, but feel free to use whichever method suits you.
This pattern does not include instructions for a heel, since these are meant to be slouchy tube socks. However, feel free to add in your favorite heal if desired.

Cuff
CO 32(36, 40) sts. Set up to work in the round, and divide the sts in half. You should have 16(18, 20) sts on ea needle if working magic loop, or 16(18, 20) sts in between ea marker if using another method.
Rounds 1-5
*k1, p1* around
Proceed to Leg Instructions
Leg and Foot
Round 1
k all sts
Repeat Round 1 until your sock is 2” from your desired length.
Measuring Tips: I recommend knitting until you like the leg length, place a marker, then continue knitting until the foot (measured at the marker) is 2 inches less than your/the recipient’s foot length. Follow this tutorial if needed, and this ruler is so handy!
Proceed to Toe Instructions
Toe
If you have chosen a method other than magic loop, I recommend switching to magic loop or DPNs now.
Rounds 1-3
k all sts
Round 2
*k2, k2tog* around
Rounds 3-5
k all sts
Round 6
*k1, k2tog* around
Rounds 7-9
k all sts
Round 10
*k2tog* around
Round 11
k all sts
Cut yarn, and weave through rem sts with the tail. Refer to this tutorial if needed.
Finishing
Cut any attached yarn, and weave in your ends.
These socks aren’t in need of blocking, but if desired simply wet slightly and lay them flat to dry.
