Choosing Your Size

  • This oversized pullover is written in five sizes, distributed as XS (S, M, L, XL). Each size is designed to fit bust sizes 28-36 (36-44, 44-52, 52-60, 60-68) inches, with 4-12 inches of positive ease per size. The finished bust measurements are 40 (48, 56, 64, 72) inches. I recommend choosing the size that best suits your negative/positive ease preferences.

  • When finished, this pullover measures 21 inches in the front and 24 inches in the back, from shoulder to hem.

Pattern Notes

  • The ch1/ch2 at the beginning of each row does not count as a stitch.

  • This pullover features a split hem, but instructions are provided to alter this if desired.

  • The length of the pullover is completely customizable, so work as few/many as desired. Note that any changes made to the pattern will affect the required yardage.

FO, weave in ends, and proceed to Back Panel Instructions

Back Panel

ch 52 (62, 72, 82, 92)

Row 1(RS): dc in the third ch from hook, dc in ea st across. 50 (60, 70, 80, 90) sts

Row 2(WS): ch 1 and turn. hdc in ea st across. 50 (60, 70, 80, 90) sts

Row 3: ch 2 and turn. dc in ea st across.

50 (60, 70, 80, 90) sts

Rows 4-35: repeat rows 2 and 3

Split Hem: As mentioned earlier, this pullover features a split hem. To omit this, simply work the front and back panels until they have the same amount of rows. If you adjust the front panel and still want the split hem, I suggest adding four rows for the back to be slightly longer.

FO, weave in ends, and proceed to Shoulder Seaming Instructions

Shoulder Seaming

Holding the wrong sides together with the shoulders lined up, start on the right side and seam across 14 (19, 24, 26, 31) sts. f/o and weave in any ends while leaving the rem sts open.

Next, join yarn to the left shoulder and seam across 14 (19, 24, 26, 31) sts again. f/o and weave in any ends while leaving the rem sts open.

You should have 22 (22, 22, 28, 28) sts open on both the front and back panels for the neck opening.

Proceed to Side Seaming Instructions

Side Seaming

Seam with the front panel in the front.

Starting on Row 3 of the front panel (should be row 7 of the back panel), seam until you have 5.5 (6.5, 7.5, 8.5, 9.5)” remaining.

Repeat on the opposite side, then f/o and weave in any ends.

Proceed to Sleeve Instructions

Sleeves

Join yarn to any st along the sleeve opening with the right side facing and ch 2

Round 1(RS): dc 28 (32, 38, 42, 48) sts evenly around the opening. slst to the first st. 28 (32, 38, 42, 48) sts

Round 2(WS): ch 1 and turn. hdc in ea st around. slst to the first st. 28 (32, 38, 42, 48) sts

Round 3: ch 2 and turn. dc in ea st around. slst to the first st. 28 (32, 38, 42, 48) sts

Round 4: ch 1 and turn. hdc in the first st, hdc2tog, hdc in ea st until three sts rem, hdc2tog, hdc in the last st. slst to the first st.

Round 5: ch 2 and turn. dc in ea st around. slst to the first st.

Repeat Rows 2-5 three more times. 20 (24, 30, 34, 40) sts

Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until your sleeve reaches your desired length.

Final Round: ch 1, (don’t turn), sc in ea st around.

Hem

The hem is completely optional, but provides a clean finish.

Join the yarn to any ch st along the bottom of the pullover.

Round 1: sc evenly around the enter base of the pullover, place one sc per ch st, and 1-2 sc sts per row on the split hem (if necessary)

Finishing

Weave in any ends you may have remaining. If you decide to block your pullover, I recommend pinning it out on blocking mats gently, spritz with water, and either steam block or let air dry.
