Advent Cowl

This cozy cowl is designed to feature any advent yarn! Use minis or scraps, or the pattern as a base for a fun striped cowl. Have fun and make it your own!



Materials

  • Approximately 200 grams of either dk(fingering) weight yarn.

  • Size 8.00mm(6.00mm) crochet hook

  • Stitch marker, scissors, yarn needle


Gauge

Fingering: 2.5 V-sts and 4 rows = 2 inches

DK: 2 V-sts and 3 rows = 2 inches


Abbreviations

ch: chain

dc: double crochet

*...*: repeat the instructions in the asterisks

[...]: work instructions within brackets into the same stitch

st(s): stitch(es)

sk: skip

rem: remaining


Pattern Notes

  • This pattern is designed for fingering weight yarn AND dk/worsted, written as DK(Fingering) instructions.

  • To customize the width of the cowl, simply chain any multiple of four, plus three (ex: 19)

  • When finished, this cowl measures 14” wide and 24” in circumference.

Ch 51(63)

Row 1

[dc 2, ch 2, dc 2] in the fifth ch from the hook, *sk 3 ch, [dc 2, ch 2, dc 2] in the next ch* until two sts rem, sk 1, dc in the last st.


Row 2

ch 3 and turn. [dc 2, ch 2, dc 2] in the first ch 2 sp, and in ea ch 2 sp across. dc in the top of the ch 3 from the previous row.


Repeat Row 3 until the cowl measures 24”, or until it has reached your desired length. Change colors as you work the advent, or whenever you’d like!


Finishing

After completing your final row, ch 1 and turn. slst the previous row and the foundation ch together to join by working in ea stitch.


Cut yarn and weave in any ends.
