Crochet Chapstick Holder | Free Pattern

Writer's picture: Amy Kate SutherlandAmy Kate Sutherland

This simple crochet chapstick holder is one of the most functionable things I’ve ever made and one of my most favorite designs. Using cotton yarn and a smaller hook to maintain a tight gauge, it will last forever and keep your chapstick safe. I encourage you to make one for all your friends! I hope you enjoy this pattern ;)

Materials:

  • 15 yards of WeCrochet Dishie or any other worsted weight cotton yarn

  • Size E (3.5 mm) crochet hook

  • One key ring

  • Scissors

  • Yarn needle

  • Ruler to check gauge

Gauge:

In order to ensure that the Chapstick tube fits snuggle into its holder, I suggest achieving the recommended gauge.

6 sts and 6 rows = 1 inch in single crochet

Pattern Notes:

  • Follow the video tutorial here: https://youtu.be/l_u6vXGx5Sk

  • Find the yarn used for the sample here!

  • Because of how small this holder is, I recommend weaving in the starting tail within the first couple of rounds, instead of waiting till the end of the project.

  • This holder is worked in a spiral, do not slip stitch unless directed to.

  • To attach the key ring: after you make the chain, slide the key ring through the chapstick holder from bottom to top, and onto the chain.

Abbreviations:

ch: chain

sc: single crochet

ss: slip stitch

ea: each

f/o: finish off

st(s): stitch(es)

Pattern:

Make a magic ring

Beginner Modification: make a slip knot and ch 2, then work the Round 1 instructions into the second ch from the hook

Round 2: sc 2 in ea st around (10 sts)

Rounds 3-12: sc in ea st around (10 sts)

Round 13: ss in next st, ch 5, and slide the key ring onto the chain (see pattern notes or tutorial). ss into the next st

f/o and weave in your ends. Enjoy your new chapstick holder!

Until next time,

Amy Kate
