One little word came to mind when I was designing this project: JOY. It is a joy to create and a joy to use! I hope you have fun with this bright and cheerful blanket pattern.
Materials
1 ball of WeCrochet Brava 500 (MC), or approximately 1050 yards of any worsted weight yarn. Sample uses Brava 500 in Dove Heather
18 WeCrochet Brava Minis (CC), or approximately 30 yards each of 18 different colors. Sample uses 18 skeins from the Rainbow Brava Mini Pack
8.00mm crochet hook
Ruler to check gauge
Scissors and yarn needle
Gauge
It is not necessary to achieve a certain gauge for this blanket, but if you’re limited on yardage or if you’d like the same dimensions as the sample I suggest checking.
6 stitches by 3 rows = 2 by 2 inches in double crochet, worked flat
Abbreviations
MC: main color
CC: contrast color
ch: chain

Pattern Notes
Find the gray yarn featured here.
Find the minis featured here.
For the linen/moss st rows, the ch 2 counts as a sc and skipped st. You will work into it as an sc at the end of each row.
When finished, this blanket measures 45 by 55 inches.
If you would like to make your blanket narrower/wider, simply ch any multiple of 2.
To make the blanket shorter/longer, simply work less/more repeats.
Construction
This blanket is worked flat, alternating between MC dc rows and CC linen or moss stitch rows. After completing the body of the blanket, you will add a three round sc border to finish.
Blanket
Using MC
Ch 122
Row 1: dc in the third ch from the hook, dc in ea ch across. (120 sts)
Row 2: ch 2 and turn. dc in ea st across. (120 sts)
Switch to CC
Row 3-6: ch 2 and turn. *sk 1, sc in the next st, ch 1* until two sts rem, sk 1, sc in the last st.
Switch to MC
Rows 7-8: ch 2 and turn. dc in ea st across (120 sts)
Repeat Rows 3-8 17 more times, or until the blanket reaches your desired length.
Border
Using MC
The border is optional, but provides a clean finish.
Round 1
Continuing from the last row, sc evenly around the entire blanket, placing three sc sts in ea corner. slst to the first st.
Note: I recommend aiming to place one sc per st along the bottom and top, two sc sts in ea dc row and one sc st in ea moss/linen st row along the sides.
Rounds 2-3
ch 1, sc in ea st around. Place 3 sc sts in ea corner. slst to the first st.
Finishing
Cut yarn, and weave in any ends you may have remaining. If you decide to block your blanket, I recommend laying it flat, spritz it with water, and let air dry or steam lightly. The sample pictured isn’t blocked.
