Nifty Bottle Cozy | Free Crochet Pattern


This beginner-friendly crochet bottle cozy is specifically designed to fit the Swell water bottles, and I am thrilled to share it with you!

Materials

  • 1 cake of Darn Good Yarn Sport Weight Recycled Silk, or 20 grams of any other comparable Sport Weight yarn

  • 4.5 mm crochet hook

  • Scissors

  • Yarn needle

  • Ruler to check gauge

Gauge

In order to ensure that the cozy will fit the bottle, I recommend checking your gauge.


7 stitches by 6 rounds = 2 inches in half double crochet, worked in the round


Abbreviations

ch: chain

hdc: half double crochet

sc: single crochet

sc2tog: single crochet two stitches together

slst: slip stitch

st(s): stitch(es)

ea: each

*...*: repeat the instructions in the asterisks

f/o: finish off


Pattern Notes

  • This cozy is worked in the round, but each round is joined. Note that the ch 1 and slip stitch at the beginning/end of each round do not count as stitches.

  • When finished, this cozy measures 8 inches in circumference and 6 inches tall.

Base

Make a magic ring (or, ch 3 and slst to the first st to form a ring)

Round 1

ch 1, hdc 7 into the ring. slst to the first st. (7 sts)

Round 2

ch 1, hdc 2 in ea st around. slst to the first st. (14 sts)

Round 3

ch 1, *hdc in the next st, hdc 2 in the next st* around. slst to the first st. (21 sts)

Round 4

ch 1, *hdc in ea of the next 2 sts, hdc 2 in the next st* around. slst to the first st. (28 sts)

Round 5-20

ch 1, hdc in ea st around. slst to the first st. (28 sts)

Round 21

ch 1, *sc in ea of the next 2 sts, sc2tog* around. slst to the first st. (21 sts)





Finishing

f/o, weave in any ends, and enjoy your new bottle cozy!
