This is my personal go-to crochet dishcloth pattern! It works up SO fast and features my favorite simple stitch, the half double crochet!
Materials
30 grams/60 yards total of worsted weight cotton yarn. Samples use WeCrochet Dishie.
4.5mm crochet hook
Scissors and a yarn needle
Gauge
7 stitches and 4 rows = 2 inches in half double crochet worked flat
Abbreviations
ch: chain
slst: slip stitch
hdc: half double crochet
sc: single crochet
*...*: repeat the instructions in the asterisks
st(s): stitch(es)

When finished, this dishcloth measures about 7” inches square.
If you’d like to modify the size of your dishcloth, simply chain any number you’d like.

Row 1
hdc in the second ch from the hook, and in ea ch across
Row 2
ch 1 and turn. hdc in ea st across
Repeat Row 2 until you’ve worked 15 rows, or until the dishcloth is square.
Border
sc around the perimeter of the dishcloth evenly, placing 3 sts in ea corner. slst to the first st to join.
Finishing
Cut yarn, pull through the last st, and weave in any ends.
