Trusty Tunisian Dishcloth | Free Pattern

The tunisian simple stitch texture is so great for dishcloths and washcloths! Enjoy the simplicity of this pattern if you’re a seasoned tunisian crocheter, or learn a new stitch and get some practice by following the step by step tutorial!



Materials

  • 35g or 70 yds of any worsted weight cotton yarn. Samples use WeCrochet Dishie

  • 6.0mm tunisian crochet hook

  • Scissors and a yarn needle

Gauge

I recommend checking your gauge to ensure the pillow will be the intended size.


4 stitches and 3 rows = 1 inch in tunisian simple stitch


Abbreviations

ch: chain

ea: each

yo: yarn over

sc: single crochet

fp: forward pass

rp: return pass

f/o: finish off

st(s): stitch(es)

slst: slip stitch

Pattern Notes

  • Find my favorite cotton yarn here.

  • Find my favorite hooks here.

  • When worked to pattern, this dishcloth measures 8 inches square.

  • Adjust the size of this dishcloth by chaining less/more sts for a narrower/wider cloth, and simple work until your piece is square.

  • If you’re working with two colors, switch at each return pass.

Ch 30

Row 1

fp: *insert hook into the ch, yo, pull up a loop* in ea st across

rp: yo, pull through one, *yo pull through two loops* across.

Rows 2-25 (or until square)

fp: *insert hook through vertical bar, yo, pull up a loop* across

rp: yo, pull through one, *yo, pull through two loops* across.

Binding Off

*insert hook through vertical bar, yo, pull through all loops on hook* across.


Finishing

Pull through the last st, cut yarn, and weave in any ends.
