Verbena Cowl

This crochet cowl is the perfect little project for spring!


Materials

  • 2 hanks of WeCrochet Billow in Comfrey, or 150g/180 yards of any bulky weight yarn

  • 8.00 mm crochet hook

  • Scissors, yarn needle


Gauge

3 sts and 3 rows = 1 inch in single crochet worked flat


Abbreviations

ch(s): chain(s)

dc: double crochet

sk: skip

st(s): stitch(es)

rem: remain(s)

*...*: repeat the instructions in the asterisks

[...]: work the instructions into the same stitch/chain

  • When finished, this cowl measures 12 inches wide and 30 inches in circumference.


Cowl

ch 33


Row 1: [dc, ch 1, dc] into the third ch from the hook, *ch 1, sk 1, sc in the next st, ch 1, sk 1, [dc, ch 1, dc]* until two sts rem, sk 1, sc in the last st.


Row 2: ch 2 and turn. dc in the first st, *ch 1, sc in the next ch 1 sp, ch 1, dc in the next sc st* across. (last st will be a dc)


Row 3: ch 1 and turn. sc in the first st, *[dc, ch 1, dc] in the next sc st, sc in the next dc st* across


Row 4: ch 2 and turn. dc in the first st, *ch 1, sc in the next ch 1 sp, ch 1, dc in the next sc st* across.


Repeat Rows 3 and 4 until the cowl is 30” or your desired length.


Joining

ch 1 and turn. Fold the cowl in half, and slip stitch the previous row and the foundation row together. Work in every stitch/ch across.


Finishing

Flip the cowl to the right side, so that the slip stitch seam is on the inside of the cowl.


Block the cowl, if desired, by pinning the cowl on blocking mats and spritzing with a spray bottle of water, then let it air dry.
