This beginner-friendly dishcloth is SO fun to make and quick to work up! It’s perfect for creating a custom set, or using up some scraps from a previous project. Have fun with this basic pattern and your yarn choices!
Materials
30 grams or 40 yards of any two strands of DK yarn held double, or yarn combo you love. Samples use WeCrochet Cotlin DK held double
6.0mm crochet hook
Scissors and a yarn needle
Gauge
3 stitches and 2 rows = 1 inch in pattern
Abbreviations
ch: chain
sc: single crochet
dc: double crochet
hdc: half double crochet
ea: each
*...*: repeat the instructions in the asterisks
st(s): stitch(es)

Find the yarn featured here.
This dishcloth is worked flat, so be sure to turn your work after each row.
When finished, this dishcloth measures 7 ½ inches square.
If you’d like to modify the size of your dishcloth, simply chain any number you’d like.
This pattern suggests certain yarn and stitch counts, but feel free to take the stitch pattern and use any yarn and gauge to create your own version!
Pattern
Ch 22
Row 1
dc in the third ch from the hook, and in ea ch across.
Rows 2
ch 1 and turn. hdc in ea st across.
Rows 3
ch 2 and turn. dc in ea st across.
Rows 4-11
Repeat Rows 2 and 3
To adjust the length of your dishcloth, simply repeat Rows 2 and 3 your desired number of times.
Border
Continuing from the last row, sc evenly around the entire dishcloth. I recommend aiming to place the same amount of sts on ea side to uphold the square shape.
Finishing
Pull through the last st, cut yarn, and weave in any ends.
Dishcloths aren’t typically in need of blocking, but feel free to do so. If you chose a 100% cotton yarn, I recommend simply washing these dishcloths in the washer and dryer just like clothes. They will last for years to come!
