Pattern Notes

  • Find the yarn featured in this pattern here.

  • When finished, this dishcloth measures 8 inches square.

Pattern

Ch 2

Row 1

sc, dc, sc in the second ch from the hook (3 sts)

Row 2

ch 1 and turn. sc and dc in the second ch, sc in the next st, dc and sc in the last st. (5 sts)

Rows 3-17

ch 1 and turn. sc and dc in the first st, *sc in the next st, dc in the next st* until two sts rem, sc in the next st, dc and sc in the last st. (7 sts, inc by two sts each row)

If you’d like to make your dishcloth smaller/larger, simply work less/more increase rows.

Rows 18-32

ch 1 and turn. sc2tog, *dc in the next st, sc in the next st* until three sts rem, dc in the next st, sc2tog. (5 sts, inc by two sts each row)

If you modified the amount of increase rows, simply work the decrease row until you have 5 sts rem.

Next Row

ch 1 and turn. sc2tog, dc in the next st, sc2tog. (3 sts)

Final Row

ch 1 and turn. sc3tog.

Border

Continuing from the last row, sc evenly around the entire dishcloth for two rounds, place 3 sts in ea corner.

Finishing

Pull through the last st, cut yarn, and weave in any ends.

Dishcloths aren’t typically in need of blocking, but feel free to do so. If you chose a 100% cotton yarn, I recommend simply washing these dishcloths in the washer and dryer just like clothes. They will last for years to come!
