Rhythm Dishcloth | FREE Crochet Pattern


This corner-to-corner dishcloth is one of my favorites! Get into a rhythm with this intuitive stitch, and watch it yield a beautiful yet practical result.



Materials

  • 40 grams or 75 yards any worsted weight cotton yarn. Sample uses WeCrochet Dishie

  • 4.5mm crochet hook

  • Scissors and a yarn needle

Gauge

It is not necessary to achieve a certain gauge for this dishcloth, but if you would like the same dimension as the sample I suggest checking.


10 stitches and 9 rows = 2 inches in linen/moss stitch, worked flat


Abbreviations

ch: chain

sc: single crochet

sk: skip

sp: space

ea: each

st(s): stitch(es)

  • This dishcloth is worked flat, so be sure to turn your work after each row.


Pattern

Ch 2

Row 1

sc 3 into the second ch from the hook

Row 2

ch 2 and turn. sc in the first st, ch 1, sk 1, [sc, ch 1, sc] in the last st.

Rows 3-25 (or desired size)

ch 2 and turn. *sc in the next ch 1 sp, ch 1* until you reach the ch 2 sp at the end of the row, [sc, ch 1, sc] in the ch 2 sp.

Rows 26-49 (or until two ch spaces rem)

ch 2 and turn. sk the first ch 1 space, *sc in the next ch 1 sp, ch 1* until you reach the ch 2 sp at the end of the row, sc in the ch 2 sp.

Row 50

ch 1 and turn. working in the ch 1 space and the final ch 2 space, sc2tog.


Finishing

Pull through the last st, cut yarn, and weave in any ends.

Dishcloths aren’t typically in need of blocking, but feel free to do so. If you chose a 100% cotton yarn, I recommend simply washing these dishcloths in the washer and dryer just like clothes. They will last for years to come!
