This dishcloth is the perfect quick Valentine’s Day gift, addition to your own kitchen, or anything in between. I hope you enjoy this fun little project!
Materials
25 grams or 50 yards any worsted weight cotton yarn. Sample uses WeCrochet Dishie
4.5mm crochet hook
Scissors and a yarn needle
Gauge
It is not necessary to achieve a certain gauge for this dishcloth, but if you would like the same dimension as the sample I suggest checking.
6 stitches and 5 rows = 2 inches in half double crochet worked flat
Abbreviations
ch: chain
hdc: half double crochet
dc: double crochet
dc2(3)tog: double crochet 2(3) sts together
ea: each
st(s): stitch(es)

Ch 7
Row 1
Dc 2 sts into the third ch from the hook, hdc in ea ch until one ch remains, dc 3 into the last ch. (8 sts)
Row 2
ch 2 and turn. dc 3 into the first st, hdc in ea st until one st remains, dc 2 into the last st. (11 sts)
Row 3
ch 2 and turn. dc 2 into the first st, hdc in ea st until one st remains, dc 3 into the last st. (14 sts)
Row 4
repeat row 2. (17 sts)
Row 5
ch 2 and turn. Dc 2 in the first st, hdc in ea st until one st remains, dc in the last st. (18sts)
Row 6
ch 2 and turn. dc in the first st, hdc in ea st across until one st remains, dc 2 in the last st. (19 sts)
Row 7
Repeat Row 5. (20 sts)
Row 8
ch 2 and turn. dc2tog, hdc in ea st until one st remains, dc 2 in the last st. (20 sts)
Row 9
ch 2 and turn. dc 2 in the first st, hdc in ea st across until one st remains, dc2tog. (20 sts)
Rows 10 and 11
Repeat Rows 8 and 9 (20 sts)

ch 2 and turn. dc 2 in the first st, hdc in ea st across until two sts remains, dc2tog. (20 sts)

ch 2 and turn. dc2tog, hdc in ea st until one st remains, dc 2 in the last st. (20 sts)
Rows 14 and 15
Repeat Rows 12 and 13. (20 sts)

ch 2 and turn. dc in the first st, hdc in ea st until two sts remain, dc2tog (19 sts)
Row 17
ch 2 and turn. dc2tog, hdc in ea st until one st remains, dc in the last st. (18 sts)
Row 18
Repeat Row 16 (17 sts)
Row 19
ch 2 and turn. dc2tog, hdc in ea st across until three sts remain, dc3tog. (14 sts)
Row 20
ch 2 and turn. dc3tog, hdc in ea st across until three sts remain, dc2tog. (11 sts)
Rows 21 and 22
Repeat Rows 19 and 20. (5 sts)
Finishing
Pull through the last st, cut yarn, and weave in any ends.
Dishcloths aren’t typically in need of blocking, but feel free to do so. If you chose a 100% cotton yarn, I recommend simply washing these dishcloths in the washer and dryer just like clothes. They will last for years to come!
